She bought this pencil roll and they're not cheap and disappeared with it. Less than an hour later she returned, holding it out to me and I assumed she didn't want it or wanted to change it for another colour and asked her if she wanted her money back.
She said "No, I want you to take it back and give it to someone of your choosing free of charge !" and off she went...just like that !
Well I waited for some single child to give it too but none came along and I eventually chose an Indonesian student who had spent about twenty minutes going through my stock of sixty designs before choosing a few to buy.
She didn't really seem to believe my story...and who would...but was delighted to accept the gift !
As I ask all students what they are studying it turned out by pure coincidence that she was one of my son's Law Students so hopefully he'll get to hear about his father's generosity except of course it wasn't mine at all !
Is this an American 'thing' or was the woman just one in a billion I wonder !
